Today I read an article by Entrepreneur magazine. (You can access the article here.) This article was in the category “habits”. I am a massive fan of forming habits and creating routines. This article was introducing the “Equal Odds Rule”.
Equal Odds Rule
The key message of this rule in the bigger picture is “if you want to make a masterpiece, you have to be willing to create a little garbage along the way”. Love it! Flawlessly on fleek.
Why I get so excited? Because it’s an absolute destress! Everyone who is working creatively – and many of us do. Especially when we are on the entrepreneurial journey. The equal odds rule simply means that the likelihood of creating a successful piece that eventually goes viral can be increased by simply creating more (high value) content. The more the merrier.
Do not spam!
Apparently we are talking about high value content. Spamming people with unneeded, bad content is definitely not the the expected outcome. Except you want to create a massive shitstorm. But I doubt this is what you want. Therefore content is key and as you probably can’t really influence which piece of content eventually goes viral you want to create only masterpieces.
I guess one reason why I absolutely love this approach is because it is in line with the 10x rule. This massive action approach buys into the same concept to fight obscurity. To make some noise in the massive and packed world of the www.
In case you might have noticed I am a little bit behind with my daily posts. The reason is super positive as my business is kicking off! Whoop whoop. But I will definitely try to keep it up and to keep track. Today, while being in the Gym, I was listening again to Grant Cardone‘s book “the 10x rule”. In one chapter he lists the habits of successful people.
10x rule and habits of successful people
One of those habits of successful people is to be uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable in the sense of leaving the comfort zone. Choosing to do the things you are scared of doing. Pushing your own boundaries. Someone ones said “a comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever growths there”. The magic usually happens out of the comfort zone.
Taking full responsibility and decisions
Funnily enough I had today also two totally unrelated conversations about this topic of becoming uncomfortable. Of taking full responsibility for one’s life and make things happening. We all have the opportunity to choose, day in and day out, whether we let things happen to us or whether we take full responsibility and decide.
There is a massive power in the thinking and the state of mind of “I can do everything but I don’t have to do everything”. Do you already decide or do you react?
Of course, we can’t always influence the things around us. Events are happening to us and to our loved ones. We get rejected and we don’t get always what we want in the first place. Pretty often actually we won’t get it even in the third place. But we have the option to decide how we want to react when things are happening. Do you want to accept the rejection? Or do you stand up, adjust your crown and try again? Do you feel like a victim to all the stuff happening towards you or do you decide proactively to act?
We truly have the power to decide how we want to live our lives.
The title of today’s post is “10x and other books” because I want to talk about books. Books are an absolute essential tool on everybody’s journey – especially on the entrepreneurial one.
I think I have read more books or listened to Audiobooks in the last 2 years than at any other given time. I’m not talking about crime, thriller or other “novels” but rather I mean non-fiction books. Sales books, books about creating wealth. Books about building a business. About efficiency and productivity. About personality and motivation. The list is long… A couple of fiction books as well – when I needed a time out. But mainly non-fiction books.
A couple of you might think this is boring shit – then this is the right time to stop reading this post.
Why I believe books are an essential tool for an entrepreneur
Because you can find every information you need to know! In a super structured way. To every topic. Without searching for info and waisting too much time researching topics. Sure, sometimes you have to do your research and it’s then the right thing to do. But there are literally books for every topic. Some don’t even go out of style or out of date. Some stuff is still relevant from 100 years ago.
Hate reading? Take an Audiobook
Another reason is that you pretty often don’t even have to read it yourself. You can listen to Audiobooks – someone is read out to you. How amazing is this please? You can listen to the books when you commute, do the laundry, use the crosstrainer or cook.
Still to lazy? Listen to a summary
Some books you done even have to read as a whole as there are amazing summaries out there with some key points. I even have a couple of them on my blog here. Like the one from Brian Tracy “Eat the frog”. Summaries like this are amazing when you just need a fresh up or when you want to get an idea whether the book is “right” for you.
Some books are worth reading tho
A couple of books you still should read. Absolutely read. One of them is “The 10x Rule” by Grant Cardone! I am currently listening to this book for the second time as it is an amazing motivational kick. It challenges your thinking about goal setting, middle class and competition. And action! Massive action! 10x action!
I have published a summary of the book earlier this year (you can check the summary out here). But I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone who has a dream and wants to get shit done. Who wants to get real. Who wants to be a big player.
Find people who inspire you and get inspired regularly, then take action!
Another inspirational leader on my journey so far is Gary Vaynerchuk! I have read / listened to all his books – currently finishing the “Thank you Economy”. And he is the man for everyone who doesn’t mind cursing. Who wants something real. Who wants to get inspired by real hustle and swag. I would recommend you his YouTube Videos or Ted Talks. I would recommend you the USC 2015 Keynote speak. Here is the link.
In case you wondered why I have become slightly inactive on this page here are the reasons:

Success is your duty, your obligation AND your responsibility
Success is NEVER an OPTION! NEVER EVER!
There is no shortage of success
You want to cause things, you want to have an internal locus of control. You do NOT want things happen to you. Things happen because of you! You are not an victim of your circumstances. Take on full responsibility for your life, your decisions, your actions and the consequences
Middle-class and average thinking is NOT desirable you’d rather want to aim BIG, really Big! Unreasonable BIG!
Most people never operate on the biggest level of action
Obscurity is your biggest enemy. You do not want to compete. You want to dominate (the market, your industry)
People will call you obsessed, unreasonable, maniac – this is your goal
Embrace your Haters
Embrace criticism – your goal is to take massive action and to fight obscurity. Criticism is attention
NEVER contract, rather expand even more! Massively
Customer satisfaction must never be the most important goal for any organisation
Make your customers to fans and don’t stop
Study successful people and do what they do
Set massive goals, plan your day and have your goals ALWAYS in mind
Forget all your excuses
Reduce the time between having an idea or making a decision and ACTION! Do it immediately, massively
And remember, whatever you do – multiply it by 10!
I finished this audiobook yesterday and am obsessed! This book is absolutely worth reading and it’s absolutely worth your time! If you haven’t got your hands on it yet, please, do so. It’s a time investment you should take.
Everyone who wants to take massive action and wants to establish successful habits should read it immediately! And no, I don’t get paid for saying this! But I believe we have this community to grow together and this book helped me already growing and will further do. So, do yourself a favour and get your hands on it.
